Farmers & Workers
Securing the rights and livelihoods of India's primary producers: the backbone of our economy.
Agricultural Price Guarantees & Reforms
The Bhartiya Samyavadi Party stands for the legal codification of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) using the Swaminathan Commission’s C2+50% recommendation. This ensures that crops are purchased at a minimum margin that covers all production costs, including family labor and capital assets.
We advocate for democratising local cooperative societies to eliminate capture by large landowners and intermediaries. Smallholder farmers must have direct access to storage, cold-chain transport, and credit models funded by the state.
Agricultural Laborers & Land Rights
A massive section of India's rural populace consists of landless agricultural workers who face seasonal unemployment and sub-minimum wages. We campaign for the implementation of land redistribution acts, giving surplus state land to landless families.
We propose updating the NREGA framework to provide 200 days of guaranteed work per year at wages indexed directly to local food and living costs, and extending these benefits to include agricultural work during peak farming seasons.
Industrial Labor & Wage Security
In industrial clusters, permanent jobs have been replaced by temporary contract labor to bypass security regulations. We demand the immediate regularisation of all workers in core manufacturing processes.
Workers must have a democratic vote on factory boards, and safety compliance checks must be overseen directly by elected worker panels rather than private auditors.
Core Demands Checklist
- Statutory MSP (C2+50%) guarantee.
- Interest-free institutional credit.
- Abolition of permanent contract jobs.
